About poolcleanerreviews.cc
Pool cleaners range from $150 suction heads to $3,000 mapping robots, and the spec sheets don't line up: one maker quotes runtime, another pool area, a third doesn't mention filtration at all. This site puts every cleaner on the same scale and shows where each is cheapest today.
How we score
Our reviews are spec-based, not hands-on. We haven't run these cleaners in a pool. Each one is scored from what its maker publishes, in eight areas, and the areas are weighted by cleaner type: a suction cleaner isn't marked down for having no app, and a skimmer isn't marked down for not climbing walls. Every cleaner of a type gets the same weights, so two scores always differ for a reason you can see in the spec table.
| Area | Robotic | Robotic skimmer | Suction-side | Pressure-side |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cleaning coverageFloor, walls, waterline and surface: how much of the pool it claims to clean. | 22% | 10% | 35% | 35% |
| NavigationRandom bouncing, a systematic gyroscope path, or a real map of the pool. | 18% | 10% | 10% | 10% |
| App & connectivityWi-Fi app (control from anywhere), Bluetooth app (poolside only), remote, or nothing. | 10% | 15% | — | — |
| RuntimeBattery runtime per cycle for cordless and solar units; corded and pump-driven cleaners run as long as they need. | 12% | 25% | — | — |
| FiltrationHow fine a particle the finest supplied filter catches, in microns. Smaller is better. | 10% | 10% | 15% | 15% |
| Pool sizeThe largest pool the maker rates it for. | 10% | 10% | 10% | 10% |
| WarrantyLength of the maker’s warranty. | 10% | 15% | 20% | 20% |
| Ease of useFilter access, weight, retrieval help, caddy, and whether there is a cord or hose to manage. | 8% | 5% | 10% | 10% |
- Navigation: random 4, systematic (gyroscope) 7, mapping 9.5. "Mapping" only when the maker says the cleaner builds a map (sonar, ultrasonic, LiDAR or camera).
- App: none 2, remote only 4, Bluetooth app 6, Wi-Fi 8.5, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 9; a remote on top adds half a point.
- Runtime: 60 min 4, 120 min 7, 180 min 9, 240 min 10 for battery units, plus 1.5 for solar charging; corded robots 8.5. Suction and pressure cleaners run whenever the pump does, so runtime isn't scored for them.
- Filtration: 50 microns or finer 10, 100 microns 8, 200 microns 6. Suction cleaners use the pool's own filter and score 7.
- Warranty: 1 year 4, 2 years 7, 3 years 8.5, 5 years 10.
- Not stated: a spec the maker doesn't publish scores low (runtime 4, filtration 4.5, warranty 3, pool size 5) and is shown as "Not stated". A missing spec is a real cost to a buyer.
Value is the spec score per dollar of today's best price (using the square root of price, so a cheap floor-only robot doesn't win outright), ranked against other cleaners of the same type: 10 is the best value we track, 0 the worst. It moves with prices; the spec score doesn't.
The review text, pros and cons are generated from the same specs and prices, so they always agree with the numbers.
Where prices come from
Each price is read from the store's own public product page, and each row shows when it was last checked: green within a week, amber within a month, red beyond that. A "was" price is shown only when the store shows one. Amazon prices come live from Amazon each time the page loads and are never stored; eBay listings are refreshed every few hours and hidden once they're more than six hours old.
How the site makes money
Some store links are affiliate links: if you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no cost to you. Stores without an affiliate programme are listed too, and commissions never affect scores or ranking.
