Spec-based review: scored from Betta's published specifications with the same weights as every other robotic skimmer cleaner. Not a hands-on test. How we score.

Our take

The Betta SE Plus Solar-Powered Robotic Pool Skimmer, released in 2023, is a solar-assisted robotic surface skimmer from Betta. It works the surface, moving in a pattern its maker doesn’t describe, and comes with a remote but no app. A charge lasts up to 1800 minutes and takes about 3.5 hours to refill.

On paper it scores 6.9 out of 10 (fair) against other robotic skimmers. Its strongest areas are runtime (10.0) and pool size (10.0). Where it gives ground: navigation (4.0) and warranty (4.0). Coarse 200-micron filter lets fine dirt through.

The best price we found is $389.90 at Betta, 22% off its $499.90 list price. The typical robotic skimmer we track costs $364.95, so this one is about average. For what it does, its value score is 3.3 out of 10.

If you want a Wi-Fi app, the cheapest we track with it is the Beatbot iSkim Robotic Pool Skimmer at $359.

To spend less for nearly the same spec score, the WYBOT F1 Solar Powered Robotic Pool Skimmer rates 6.8 for $299.98.

For about the same money, the Aiper EcoSurfer S2 Cordless Robotic Pool Skimmer scores higher (7.3) at $359.99.

Bottom line: a fair pick for yards with trees: leaves get skimmed before they sink, pools with no outlet near the deck, large pools and above-ground pools.

Pros

+Skims leaves and pollen off the surface before they sink.
+Cordless: no cable to tangle or drape across the pool.
+Solar panel tops up the battery while it works.
+Long battery life: up to 1800 minutes per cycle.
+Top-access filter basket: no bag to wash out.
+Rated for large pools, up to 2,400 sq ft.
+Works in above-ground pools as well as in-ground.

Cons

−Coarse 200-micron filter lets fine dirt through.
−Only a 1-year warranty.
